Installation Issues with Tail Gate Reinforcement Bracket

I installed the tail gate reinforcement bracket to support 75 pound 33's and I'm not disappointed. It was easy to install and looks good. I had read that the supplied screws were too long but thought how could the manufacturer get that wrong. Well, they got it wrong. When I tightened the 4 screws the panel on the inside of the tail gate was pushed off. I had to remove the 4 bracket mounting screws, one at a time, cut off 1/2 inch and then retorque each one. Not a big deal. Just a nuisance.

I liked how it was packaged. No damage when I received the product. All the hard were needed was there. Install was fairly easy. I did have a problem with one lock washer that broke while applying torque to the bolts. Luckily I found one that worked. I wish the hard where was black so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Just makes the overall appearance look second hand. Going to end up painting the bolts to match the bracket. Hope this helps with the weight of my 35s off road. Time will tell.

installed easily and as others stated the bolts are too long so they pop the inside plastic off (would be nice if they replaced them with the right length bolts that ate black also so it doesn't look so cheap) im running a stock wheel on a 37 with a ruggedridge lift/pushout mount and didn't notice any added strength or rigidity at all. could be because of the tire size but im disappointed because it didn't seem to make any difference. also i now have to take it back apart and realign my tailgate because it shuts worse now than before because i didn't realize it was as gonna drop when i unbolted the hinge. slight oversight on my behalf but hopefully noting this helps someone else.

Been on my jeep for months now still love it. If I had one negative comment they should have powder coated the bolts black. I had mine done matte black.

Looks good, but lacks functionality on rough roads

To start with, the product is solid. installation was easy. Did have to make modification to the hardware. The bolts supplied are too long, one lock washer broke as I was torquing it down. I did have to paint the bolts because I just did not like how the raw metal looked and was able to replace the lock washer. Unfortunately, it will not help keep the weight of the tire from flexing the tail gate on rough roads. I was able to get the tail gate to vibrate while mimicking being off road. For the price, I guess it works as it should for now. Will end up changing the set up as I build my Jeep for the Trails. Sorry Rough Country but I think this product is more for looks than functionality.

Installation Issues, Panel Popping Off

Very easy to install. 2 of the 4 bolts (the 2 closest to the tailgate hinges) are too long for this application. When torqued to specs, they pop the inside tailgate panel off. I cut those 2 bolts down in order to close the inside panel all the way.

All returns must be accompanied by an original or copy of the receipt within 30 days. There are no refunds/credits after 30 days. Electrical items, tools, installed parts, and some special order items are non-refundable/non-returnable.

In order to return any products you must contact our customer service at 1-800-341-7757 and obtain an RGA number and write it large and clear on the box being returned.
